There was no change in fortunes for Lancashire and Nottinghamshire, who will have to wait until day three for any chance of play.
The forecast appeared promising for the afternoon at mid-morning when rainfall began to ease up, but the overnight drizzle combined with a late morning shower made the playing surface once again unfit for any cricket to be held.
