Heavy showers diminished any hopes of play on day one of Nottinghamshire's LV= Insurance County Championship visit to Lancashire.
Mid-way through lunch, play was abandoned as match officials had no choice but to deem the surface completely unplayable with no end to the downpours in sight.
The two sides will hope for better fortunes with the weather on day two, although the forecast keeps any hopes of such in firm doubt.
