Joe Clarke admitted that tough situations bring the best out of him after his performance against Kent helped Nottinghamshire secure a draw away from home.

The 27-year-old scored an unbeaten 141 off 277 deliveries in the second innings, rescuing his side from a deficit of one run with three wickets remaining, to a lead of 161.

The batter also reflected on the performance of Brett Hutton, with whom he shared a partnership of 141, and the successful recalibration of his red ball game which has seen him amass nearly 1000 runs in the 2023 County Championship season.
